Linda’s Lollies Gourmet Lollipops were born by accident – literally. In 1984, Linda Harkavy, the future founder of Linda’s Lollies, was driving along the back roads of South Carolina when she had a terrible accident and sustained serious injuries. But fortune came out of misfortune: In need of a job that she could manage during her recovery, Linda happened upon a woman who ran a stovetop lollipops business out of her own kitchen. As Linda recalls, “She was ready to retire and I was looking for a business I could manage on my own schedule.” And so Linda set to work on an idea that was a lollipop revolution: 50 different exotic and delectable flavors, many of them never before seen in a lollipop. And thus the very first gourmet lollipops were born.
People loved Linda’s Lollies and her little company grew. And after 30 years of building and sustaining a business through grit, tenacity and creativity, Linda was ready to retire. Yolo Candy, a company founded by three industry executives and long time fans of Linda’s products, purchased Linda’s Lollies in 2012. In the spirit of Linda’s commitment to excellence and innovation, Yolo’s goal was to re-establish Linda’s Lollies as the pre-eminent lollipop brand in the world. To do that, Yolo set out to improve every aspect of the product. Today, Linda’s Lollies assortment has been optimized to feature 24 gourmet flavors, including intriguing new taste concepts such as Mango Chile, Blueberry Muffin and Maple Pancake. Each flavor is specially crafted to deliver superior flavor, intensity and accuracy. New thought has been given to the appearance of Linda’s Lollies, which now come in a variety of eye-popping color combinations: bright translucent, opaque, swirled and half splits—all on a unique purple stick, making these new pops look as good as they taste.
Linda’s Lollies nostalgic packaging has been updated to project its premium quality and upscale branding. Even the wraps have been re-engineered to feature a notch for easy opening. The final step in pop perfection has been to develop a range of new display solutions that enable retailers to merchandise Linda’s in a variety of impulse locations.
As Linda Lollies continues to grow, we will always remember Linda’s inspiration at the stovetop, which created the original gourmet lollipop and indeed a lollipop revolution.
